After more than a 2 1/2 year hiatus, the blog is once again open for business! I’ve updated wordpress and supporting themes and plugins to the latest versions. I’ve even added support for OpenID logins for adding comments (courtesy of Vidoop’s own Will Norris and Chris Messina).

Perhaps I should back up a few steps and talk about I’ve been doing the past few years.

I’ve been working at Vidoop since the company’s inception, being one of the inventors of the ImageShield authentication system. The company has grown tremendously since the founding date in March 2006.. from the original 4 people, the staff has grown to somewhere close to 50 (I’ve lost track of the official count). We’ve established ourselves as pioneers in the identity space, working with a variety of organizations to help foster growth and innovation in identity on the web. In the process Vidoop has moved from our original headquarters in Tulsa, OK to our new home in Portland, OR. I’m still based in Tulsa for awhile, until my wife and I can move out to Portland.

Which is a nice segue into the next major announcement: This past May, I got married to a wonderful girl named Adrienne! The wedding was an eventful occasion: lots of great memories with family and friends. We also enjoyed our honeymoon in Maui.. it was a paradise we didn’t want to leave

i just uploaded a few new albums to the gallery. some of these i’ve been sitting on for awhile now, so it’s been a long time coming. you can see the shots i took back in march over my ’spring break’ [i took a week off from work using comp time that i'd racked up] of the church ski trip and me hanging out with TU buddies in baltimore and new york. so yeah, just /slightly/ delayed posting on those . i also added my california vacation pics, which were taken with my new (at the time, anyway) camera, the nikon coolpix 5600. lastly (but certainly not least-ly) are the albums from the 4th of July celebration at the Dawkins’s lakehouse and emma’s birthday party around the end of june this past summer.

so i finally got fed up with MT allowing spambots to take over my comment entries (you probably noticed all of the trash that had been piling up under some of the older comments, and the fact that the comments have been disabled for awhile now as a result), and decided to completely scrap the old blog and start anew. you can see the results of my frustration — i’d heard good things (TM) about wordpress so decided to check it out. it seems like a fairly robust and flexible blogging package, with built-in comment spam protection, which is definitely a must have. another sweet feature is the huge selection and variety of themes available… i ganked this one [it's called "falling dreams"] from alex king’s theme browser, which allows you to view the available themes in real-time by selecting from a dropdown list — the page automatically refreshes with the chosen theme. one thing i was certainly impressed with is the fact that wordpress themes can actually have a different look-and-feel: they don’t all have the same generic cookie-cutter layout, which is nice.

anyway, always the blog slacker, i have an end-of-summer goodness update i’ve been working on that i’ll try to post shortly
